Uber is facing numerous sexual assault lawsuits alleging that the rideshare company failed to protect passengers from sexual misconduct and assault by drivers. Survivors claim that Uber’s inadequate background checks, insufficient safety measures, and lack of accountability allowed these incidents to occur.
According to Uber’s safety report, the company received 3,824 reports of the five most severe categories of sexual assault in 2019 and 2020 alone. While this number represents a decrease from the nearly 6,000 reports in 2017 and 2018, even one incident is unacceptable. As the litigation progresses, law firms representing these victims face the daunting task of managing numerous cases while providing each client the support they need.
